Voltage, who lost to the eventual champion in last year's semi-finals, averaged 102.54, hitting five 180s and eight of 14 darts at double against the Bully Boy, who already knew he can't qualify for the play-offs.
The former world champion's finishing power proved decisive, closing seven of his eight legs from the range of 200-300 in no more than six darts, and in each of the last three legs, a 180 was followed by a checkout in the 40s - all 3 were 11-darters.
Mensur Suljovic suffered a scare against Peter Wright to win and boost his play-off hopes.
The Austrian hit a 144 checkout in the first leg, and raced into a 5-1 lead against Snakebite.
Only one of the first six legs was won in less that 15 darts, showing the sluggish start from both players.
The Scot was averaging in the low 80s and his 130 checkout in leg four was his only positive, before going on to win the next three legs including a 100 checkout.
Trailing 7-5, he punished the Gentle for two missed darts for the match by taking out 110 to force a decider.
Suljovic completed the win with three 140s and an 81 checkout for a 12-darter to seal the win.
He averaged 93.91 compared to Wright's 89.49 - the fourth time he has averaged in the 80s in the Premier League this season.

The Dutchman may not continue his record of never finishing anywhere but top of the league, and even worse he is not guaranteed to feature in the play-offs at all.
In one of the worst performances from MVG in this year's Premier League, SuperChin surged into a 4-0 lead, before Mighty Mike stopped the rot with a 127 checkout in 12 darts.
Van Gerwen was able to produce a match high finish from 130 - his third from 100+ in the match - but it proved in vain as Gurney went on to claim a surprisingly comfortable triumph.
James Wade too strengthened his play-off bid with a comfortable 8-4 victory over an oddly-behaving Gerwyn Price, who didn't shake the Englishman's hand after the match.
The Machine ends the night in third in a one-sided contest.
The Iceman looked focused suring his walk-on, but went 3-0 down before getting into the match with an 11-darter.
The European and World Series champion's decisive moment was a 122 checkout to go 6-3 up.
The Grand Slam of Darts champion pulled one back before Wade finished the match in 12 then 14 dart legs.
A clearly fuming Price stormed off the stage and straight past Wade's outstretched arm, after a match in which he varied his speed much more than usual, and many times was visibly upset with Wade's behaviour - though it appeared the Englishman had done nothing to warrant that response.
