Somerset won the last county cricket final at Lord's with a six-wicket win over Hampshire in the One-Day Cup.
James Vince and Liam Dawson missed out for Hampshire, and were outplayed with only a second final defeat in nine visits to the Home of Cricket.
The Southampton based side were limited to 244-8 before Somerset reached 245-4 with 39 balls left.
Tom Banton and Azhar Ali opened with a stand of 112, before James Hildreth made an unbeaten 72 to seal the victory.
It was Somerset eighth trophy in their history, and their first since lifting the Twenty20 Cup in 2005, and their first at Lord's since 2001.
This may herald a potential era of resurgent dominance for the West Country club, after so many near misses in recent years, and failing to match the golden age of success in the days of Ian Botham, Viv Richards and Joel Garner.
They lead the County Championship - looking for a first win in that competition - by two points from Hampshire, and they have publicly announced their ambition to match an unprecedented domestic treble, matching Warwickshire's as yet unmatched achievement from 25 years ago.
Despite Banton's 69 off 67 balls, and two early wickets for Josh Davey, Jamie Overton was awarded the man of the match award, with two of his three wickets coming from catches at long leg.
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat, but the top three - without Aiden Markram - made double figures but couldn't push on.
Sam Northeast made a half-century to get them going, with the deputising skipper sharing two stands of 46 with Rilee Rossouw - who made a century at Lord's in last year's final - and Gareth Berg as they rose to 164-5.
Tom Abell bowled Northeast for the first of three quick wickets, with Chris Wood holing out three balls later before Kyle Abbott was also bowled by Abell.
It looked as if Hampshire might slump to a measly total, but James Fuller and Mason Crane made 55* and 28* respectively, mixing sensible shot selection and some power hitting at the death to give a reasonable total.
Between innings, Hampshire will having been hoping for some early wickets, particularly when defending a sub-par total, to put the pressure on Somerset.
Fidel Edwards and Abbott opened the bowling and had a few early shouts dismissed by the umpires, with 31 coming off the former's first three overs.
It wasn't until the 20th over when the opening partnership was broken, with Edwards returning to remove both openers within 14 balls of each other.
But by then, the damage had been done by Banton and Ali, taking their team to almost halfway to the required total.
James Fuller got rid of Peter Trego on 29, and Edwards took his third wicket in Abell, but Hildreth remained until the run chase was complete.
2019 marked the final year of the One-Day Cup final being held at Lord's, with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announcing that the showpiece would be moved to Trent Bridge in Nottingham for the next five years.
The competition has had steadily reducing crowds in the finals at Lord's in the last 20 years, with the ECB's new tournament - The Hundred - taking priority with it's finals day being held in the capital.
That meas that today's 89th one-day final at Lord's will almost certainly be the last, and even on such a fine day, the ground was a long way short of being full, with 15,746 the official attendance.
The timing of the final will not have helped numbers, with the knockout stages crammed in before the World Cup is about to start.
This final was the earliest ever in the season, with World Cup warm-up games taking centre-stage on the same day.
Vince and Dawson were in action for England against Australia in Southampton, with India's match against New Zealand at The Oval much better attended than both others.
