Cricket World Cup: England vs Sri Lanka, Headingley - Malinga stars as England crumble

Lasith Malinga took four wickets as England collapsed to a second World Cup defeat at Headingley.

England - 212 / 232-9 - Sri Lanka
England were chasing 233 in the first match of the tournament at Headlingley, and a brilliant bowling performance by the visitors made use of the pitch, claiming a 20-run win.
James Vince fell for 14, while Jonny Bairstow was out for his second golden duck of the tournament.
The Yorkshire opener fell into the same trap as Jos Buttler - trying to play across the slingy action of Lasith Malinga, who took took 4-43.

Joe Root made 57 alongside Ben Stokes, looking to hold England together throughout the innings as he so often does.
But then came the turning point, when Sri Lanka reviewed a ball that was given not out, but showed that Root had edged behind on the leg-side off Malinga.
After Buttler's dismissal, Moeen Ali started where he finished against Afghanistan, going for back-to-back sixes off Dhananjaya de Silva, but was caught at long-off in his 100th ODI.
The spinner then had both Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid caught behind off the same ball, in the same over.
Jofra Archer was caught at long-off in a collapse of four wickets for just 16 runs.
Stokes was dropped in the deep on 57, before back to back sixes rocked Headlingley.
He made an unbeaten 82, while England were 212 all out.
Number 11 Mark Wood had joked at the interval - after some brilliant wicket-taking - that England would be in trouble if he was required in the run chase, and how right he was.
When he came to the crease alongside Durham teammate Stokes, England required 47.
Stokes smashed 23 off eight balls to give the crowd some hope, before Wood edged Nuwan Pradeep behind off the final ball of his 10 overs for their second loss of the tournament.

Sri Lanka had earlier been restricted to 232-9, with Angelo Mathews anchoring the innings with an 85.
England performed well with the ball and in the field, but Mathews' persistence made the total just too high for England to chase.
His slow 85 showing why he'd not scored more than nine runs in an innings before this match in the tournament, with a very reserved and defensive start.
Sri Lanka were 3-2 having won the toss, and it looked like we'd have a short day of cricket.
Avishka Fernando sparked the revival, falling on an agonising 49 hitting two sixes off Archer.
He uppercut to Wood at third man, before Ali and Rashid bowled together to dismantle Sri Lanka.
A much-improved Rashid had Kusal Mendis caught by Eoin Morgan at mid-wicket, before taking Jeevan Mendis caught and bowled next ball.
Wood and Archer bowled at the death, with Wood's yorker to dismiss Malinga touching 93mph.
England stay third in the table with the three most difficult matches still to play - Australia, India and New Zealand.
Sri Lanka keep their hopes of semi-final qualification alive, moving up to fifth and only two points off England.
