Rob Cross will face Daryl Gurney in the World Matchplay semi-final after both of their last eight matches went the distance.
(2) Rob Cross 16-14 Stephen Bunting
Rob Cross hit only the second maximum finish of the tournament en route to a gruelling victory over Stephen Bunting.
Voltage had led 9-4 before the Bullet battled back into contention.
The Hastings thrower hit 13 maximums on his way to averaging 101.96, while his 170 checkout raised the Winter Gardens roof in the ninth leg for a 15-darter.
Bunting pushed the 2018 world champion all the way, and can be proud of his tournament performances, but ultimately didn't have enough in the tank.
Cross hit an 11-darter to lead 9-4, before the St Helens man won six of the next seven legs in a run which included an 11-darter and a ton+ checkout.
Over the next eight legs, Cross missed several crucial darts at doubles, before finding his rhythm at 14-14 to take out the next two legs in 10 and 13 darts to seal the win.
Bunting averaged 96.08 and hit seven 180s but was better on his doubles as he made 14 of his 32 as Voltage spurned 25 of his.
(6) Peter Wright 13-16 (3) Daryl Gurney
Daryl Gurney battled past an inform Peter Wright to win a high quality quarter-final clash.
The Northern Irishman once again showed his class on the big occasion defying his opponent's 104.57 average and 12 maximums, ending Snakebite's 20-match winning streak.
It was the 10th time he played at a three-figure average in a row and the 12th time in his last 21 games.
Having won the last three tournaments he's played in, the 2017 UK Open champion was favourite to win his second major title, but was beating by SuperChin, who averaged 101.86 and hit nine 180s.
The 2018 Players' Championship winner's performance was akin to when he triumphed against Michael van Gerwen to win his second major, and his first at the 2017 Grand Prix against Simon Whitlock.
The Scot levelled at 5-5 with the first ton-plus checkout with a 120 finish, after that they couldn't be separated by more than a leg up until 13-13.
But Gurney held throw in the next before hitting a 180 and checkout 70 to break, and held throw to win with his first match dart.
