(5) Michael Smith 12-10 Max Hopp
Michael Smith will play in a Blackpool quarter-final after edging past Max Hopp in round two.
In six previous visits, Bully Boy had only won three matches on the Winter Gardens stage, but now may have the best chance to finally break his major duck, with the draw opening up.
Despite checkouts of 130 and 120, his doubling will need to improve having missed 25 in this match.

Six of those misses came in the fourth and fifth leg, allowing the German into a 4-1 lead, before the St Helens thrower came back winning the next five including a 130 checkout and an 11-darter.
The Maximiser win the 13th leg in a calamitous 23 darts with both players missing seven doubles before Hopp took the leg and won the next in 11 darts to level at 7-7.
Consecutive breaks of throw followed, before Hopp edged ahead at 9-8.
After Smith levelled, he bust his score on 25 allowing Hopp to take a 10-9 lead - one away from the win - before Smith took out a Shanghai finish on the 20s to force the tie-break.
Smith took the next two legs in 15 and 13 darts to advance, averaging 96.91 to Hopp's 93.06, hitting two more maximums.

(8) James Wade 13-11 (9) Mensur Suljovic

James Wade showed his battling credentials to see off Mensur Suljovic in a tie-break.
The Austrian had taken an 8-5 lead, taking out four on the spin including a 141 checkout to get into the commanding position.
The Aldershot thrower punished five missed darts at double by the Gentle, before the Machine missed a dart at tops for Suljovic to level at 9-9.
The pair traded 13-dart holds of throw before Suljovic broke when Wade had missed the bullseye for a 95 checkout.
Wade broke and held with an 18-darter after Suljovic had missed a dart at double seven
Wade broke back then held his throw in a sloppy leg as nerves affected both players before just about stumbling over the line with an 18-darter after last year's runner-up missed a dart at double seven to keep the match alive.
The 2007 champion averaged 94.48 compared to Suljovic's 92.91, his finishing of 12 from 29 attempts was more clinical than his opponent's 11 from 32 but his pair of 180s was two fewer.
Wade's other ton+ checkout was a superb effort from 134 to go 3-2 up while Suljovic managed a high of 101.

(4) Gary Anderson 8-11 Mervyn King
Mervyn King stunned defending champion Gary Anderson to reach his first televised quarter-final in three years.
The Norfolk thrower trailed 8-7 before winning four legs on the trot, including a 12-darter to win the match with a 90 checkout.

The 53-year-old shrugged off a 130 checkout from the Flying Scotsman in then opening leg to storm into a 5-1 lead, including a 122 checkout.
Anderson found another gear, winning six of the next seven before King hit the match-high checkout of 136 at the end of a 12-dart leg.
The two-time world champion held his throw to edge 8-7 ahead before King raised the level to win the next four.
King is one of the best and most consistent players on the PDC circuit to have never won a major title.
Since switching in 2007, he has reached five finals but always on the losing side - the Premier League (2009), Masters (2014), World Grand Prix (2012), Players Championship Finals (2010) and the now discontinued Championship League (2008).

(1) Michael van Gerwen 11-13 Glen Durrant
In the first televised meeting between the two defending world champions, the three-time back-to-back BDO world champion Glen Durrant prevailed over three-time PDC world champion Michael van Gerwen.
Duzza's Winer Gardens debut is going near perfectly with wins over two of the most successful player in the game's history, this in his first year in the PDC after winning his Tour Card at Q School in January.

The Middlesbrough thrower lead the Dutchman 8-5 before Mighty Mike hit an 11-darter and a 134 checkout in a brilliant comeback to lead 10-9.
Durrant forced a tie-break with a 112 checkout, and after breaking in the next leg he couldn't consolidate on his own throw.
He edged ahead with an 84 finish while the Green Machine was waiting on tops, giving him the chance to throw for the match.
Van Gerwen had a dart on the bullseye to level it at 12-12 which he missed, allowing Durrant back to pin tops for the win.
The winner of two titles on the Pro Tour this year, Durrant averaged 99.56, while his opponent still could avrage three-figures with 98.67.
Durrant also edged the finishing percentages, hitting 12 of his 28 while van Gerwen missed 16.
