England were frustrated in Antigua as the West Indies built a lead of 85 runs in the first innings.
Brathwaite made 49, Campbell 47 and Hope 41 contributing to a 271-6 total at the close.
Bravo showed patience to bat out 33 from 165 balls - hitting only two fours in more than four hours at the crease, taking a Stuart Broad delivery to his arm as well.
England's batsmen didn't have the same patience - all but one of the home batsmen made double figures.
Three dropped catches, two by Jos Buttler at third slip, for England and saw several chances fall short, with Campbell and Dowrich both saved by reviews for caught behind and lbw respectively.
England bowled well and beat the bat on numerous occasions, but they are already facing a tricky third innings on a pitch showing consistently unpredictable bounce.
Only one England batsman faced more than 100 deliveries - and that was Moeen Ali, batting at seven, while three of the host's top four bettered that in their occupation of the crease.
Campbell and Brathwaite made a 70 partnership off 200 balls, breaking a record held since 2000 - the most balls faced by an opening Windies pair against England.
Their record breaking duet ended with Campbell being caught at slip off Ben Stokes.
