Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich
Last year's finallists Liverpool were frustrated by Bayern Munich at Anfield.
A disciplined defence by the German 2013 champions kept out Liverpool's attack, the greater of the two sides' on the night.
Sadio Mane dragged a shot wide, and Joel Matip failed to convert a Roberto Firmino cross.
The Cameroonian defender had almost gifted Bayern an early away goal, misdirecting a clearance that deflected off Alisson.
But both sides held firm, with Mane's 85th minute header the best chance for either team.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona
Barcelona had 25 shots but could not convert from any of them to get a crucial away goal.
Anthony Lopes was in inspired form to deny Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Phillipe Coutinho.
The tie is still in the balance, despite Ernesto Valverde's side being heavy favourites to progress to the last eight for the eleventh season in a row.
The Catalans have now drawn four of their last five games in all competitions.

French club Lyon are the only side to beat runaway Ligue 1 leaders Paris St-Germain this season, and they could have scored through Houssem Aouar, his strike was pushed away by Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, while Memphis Depay screwed a shot wide from the angle.

Schalke 2-3 Manchester City
10-man Manchester City staged a brilliant late comeback to beat Schalke, with Raheem Sterling scoring a last minute winner, bringing down Ederson's long kick before a calm finish.
Sergio Aguero put the Premier League champions in front after 18 minutes, before a VAR decision swung the match in Schalke's favour.
City defender Nicolas Otamendi was penalised for an adjudged handball when the ball struck his arm as he moved it behind his back, Nabil Bentaleb scored from the spot.
The second was given for a foul by Fernandinho on Salif Sane - the referee sticking with his decision after briefly consulting the VAR, and once again Bentaleb converted.
Argentine Otamendi will miss the second leg, as will Fernandinho, after being sent off for a second yellow card offence: a foul on Guido Burgstaller.
Leroy Sane joined from the bench, scoring the equaliser from a 30 yard free-kick, before Sterling struck the winner.

Atletico Madrid 2-0 Juventus
Atletico Madrid's central defensive partnership produced the goods at the other end, as the hosts beat Juventus 2-0.
VAR had intervened at 0-0, denying Alvaro Morata the opening goal.
The Spaniard had his header blocked by Mario Mandzukic, before Jose Maria Gimenez converted from eight yards.
His Uruguayan compatriot Diego Godin scored via a deflection off Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese forward is bidding to win a sixth Champions League and a fourth in a row.
He would become only the second player to win it with three clubs (Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus) after Clarence Seedorf (Ajax, Real Madrid, Milan).
He had Juventus' best chance of the match, but Jan Oblak was equal to his 35-yard free kick.
Diego Costa and Thomas Partey of Atletico Madrid and Juve left-back Alex Sandro will all miss the second leg after picking up their third bookings of the tournament.
