West Indies vs England - First One Day International, Barbados - England win via record run chase

Jason Roy and Joe Root made a combined 225 as England completed their highest one-day run-chase and beat West Indies by six wickets.

Roy scored 123 off 85 balls and Root 102 off 97, as Eoin Morgan's team cruised to their 361 target in Barbados, it was the fourth highest chase by any side in ODI history.
Captain Morgan made 65 and Jos Buttler sealed the victory with eight balls to spare.
Earlier, Chris Gayle made 135, contributing to West Indies' total of 360-8, a record against England, and his 12 sixes out of Windies' 23 is a new high for an ODI innings, surpassing New Zealand's 22 against West Indies in 2014.
Gayle's 135 is the highest score by a West Indies player against England,and he has now hit more sixes (488 in 514 innings) than any other player in international cricket.
Gayle was reprieved on nine with a drop from Roy, while the latter was at the crease he was rarely troubled.
The number one ranked one-day team played with a controlled aggression to surpass the 350-3 they made against New Zealand at Trent Bridge in 2015.
Roy and Root were both dropped twice on the way to their ton-plus scores.
Roy and Jonny Bairstow put on 91 for the first wicket before the latter was caught behind off Holder for 34.
Roy reached his century from only 65 balls before he was caught off leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo.

Root reached his century with his ninth four, only to pull a Jason Holder full toss straight to Nicholas Pooran at deep square leg.
Joe Root became the fourth England player to reach 5,000 ODI runs, after Eoin Morgan, Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood.
He is the fourth quickest batsmen to reach 5,000 ODI runs, after Hashim Amla, Viv Richards and Virat Kohli.
Gayle had a slow start to his innings and needed 35 more balls than Roy to reach his century.
Playing his first ODI since July 2018, the opener was on nine from 32 balls when he was dropped by Roy and did not hit a boundary until the 15th over.
His half-century came from 76 deliveries, with 45 dot balls, but he needed only 24 more balls to reach his 24th ODI century, including four sixes out of the ground.
Gayle and Darren Bravo hit four sixes in off-spinner Moeen Ali's final over, while Nurse's unbeaten 25 from eight balls helped West Indies past 350.
