Teenager Bianca Andreescu won her first Grand Slam title by stunning Serena Williams in the US Open final.
The 37-year-old American was looking for a record-equalling 24th major singles title, but couldn't live with the quality of her Canadian opponent in a 6-3 7-5 loss.
15th seed Andreescu was appearing in the main draw at Flushing Meadows for the first time, blew a double break in the second set before converting her third Championship point.

She makes history as the first Canadian to win a Grand Slam, while she is the first teenager to win a major since Maria Sharapova - beaten by Williams in the first round this year - won in New York in 2006, when Andreescu was just six years old.
Russian Sharapova was also the last teenager to win their maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2004.
Andreescu won the match with a forehand down the line before lying on the ground to contemplate her achievement.
Andreescu had said before the match that if someone had told her a year ago that she would be facing Williams in the US Open final, she would have said they were crazy.

Since losing in the first round of the US Open last year outside off the top 200 in the world, she has made an incredible rise through the ranks, becoming one of the most talked about young players in the world.
Andreescu - who has Romanian born parents who emigrated to Canada in the 1990s - had only played six tour level matches at the start of 2019, but since then she has taken WTA titles at Indian Wells and Toronto, amounting to a rise to 15th in the world and increasing career prize money to £1.97m.
Another £3.13m pounds is her reward from her two weeks' work here, climbing to fifth in the world.
Although Williams had the crowd on her side - unsurprisingly at her home major and as one of the game's legends - she looked fearless and imperious in her victory on Arthur Ashe court.
She came back remarkably after seeing her second-set double break disappear, as Williams fought back from 5-1 down with Andreescu putting her fingers in her ears at times due to the level of support for the American.
Her first match point came and went in the seventh game, before her second disappeared as Williams hit an ace to make it 30-40 before a forehand winner in the next game sealed the title.

Rafael Nadal won his 19th Grand Slam singles title by holding off a spirited combeack from Daniil Medvedev.
The 33-year-old won 7-5 6-3 5-7 4-6 6-4 against the Russian fifth seed.
At two sets and a break up, Nadal looked to be cruising only for his 23-year-old opponent to comeback and force a deciding set.
The final was time at four hours and 50 minutes, just four minutes short of the Flushing Meadows record.
Nadal converted his third match point to move to within one Grand Slam Singles title of his great rival Roger Federer.
An electric atmosphere at the near 24,000 capacity Arthur Ashe Stadium cheered every point, after Medvedev had been booed throughout the tournament.
But his name was being chanted by the New York faithful who were willing him to complete the comeback.
Medvedev was unable to become the first man since Stan Wawrinka at the US Open in 2016 to win a Grand Slam men's singles title outside of Federer, Nadal and world number one Novak Djokovic.
Nadal's fourth victory at Flushing Meadows means that the big three have won all of the last 12 Grand Slams, and Nadal will be looking to draw level with 38-year-old Federer at the Australian Open in January.
Federer - who was nine titles ahead of Nadal in 2007 - tops the leaderboard for most Grand Slam men's singles titles, but he may be ousted from the top spot soon.
Despite the 'Big Three' all being well into their 30s, their stranglehold on the biggest titles seems stronger than ever, and Medvedev was the latest to try and fail - but not for a lack of effort.
Federer once seemed certain to finish his career as the greatest of all time, but Djokovic and Nadal are not letting up yet, as the Spanish left-hander moves to within one of the Swiss great for the first time.
Nadal - who also won a record 12th French Open this year - looked to be cruising to a straight sets win against the first Russian man to compete in a Grand Slam singles final since Marat Safin at the 2005 Australian Open.
Both men tried to outlast each other in brutal rallies, but the physical contest looked all but over when Nadal broke to lead 3-2 in the third set.
Medvedev found strength from somewhere to not only get a consolation set on the board, but threaten to snatch the title from under Nadal's nose in one of the most memorable comebacks ever seen.
But Nadal's intensity proved too strong for Medvedev who had struggled with a quad injury earlier in the tournament, but still battled long into the fifth hour of the match.
Medvedev even fought back from a double break down at 5-2 in the final set, but Nadal managed to see out the win, ending another stellar year for him - reaching three Grand Slam finals in the same year for the fourth time.
There was a warm embrace between the players after the match, acknowledging what a great contest they had been part of.

At two sets and a break up, Nadal looked to be cruising only for his 23-year-old opponent to comeback and force a deciding set.
The final was time at four hours and 50 minutes, just four minutes short of the Flushing Meadows record.
Nadal converted his third match point to move to within one Grand Slam Singles title of his great rival Roger Federer.
An electric atmosphere at the near 24,000 capacity Arthur Ashe Stadium cheered every point, after Medvedev had been booed throughout the tournament.
But his name was being chanted by the New York faithful who were willing him to complete the comeback.
Medvedev was unable to become the first man since Stan Wawrinka at the US Open in 2016 to win a Grand Slam men's singles title outside of Federer, Nadal and world number one Novak Djokovic.
Nadal's fourth victory at Flushing Meadows means that the big three have won all of the last 12 Grand Slams, and Nadal will be looking to draw level with 38-year-old Federer at the Australian Open in January.
Federer - who was nine titles ahead of Nadal in 2007 - tops the leaderboard for most Grand Slam men's singles titles, but he may be ousted from the top spot soon.
Despite the 'Big Three' all being well into their 30s, their stranglehold on the biggest titles seems stronger than ever, and Medvedev was the latest to try and fail - but not for a lack of effort.
Federer once seemed certain to finish his career as the greatest of all time, but Djokovic and Nadal are not letting up yet, as the Spanish left-hander moves to within one of the Swiss great for the first time.
Nadal - who also won a record 12th French Open this year - looked to be cruising to a straight sets win against the first Russian man to compete in a Grand Slam singles final since Marat Safin at the 2005 Australian Open.
Both men tried to outlast each other in brutal rallies, but the physical contest looked all but over when Nadal broke to lead 3-2 in the third set.
Medvedev found strength from somewhere to not only get a consolation set on the board, but threaten to snatch the title from under Nadal's nose in one of the most memorable comebacks ever seen.
But Nadal's intensity proved too strong for Medvedev who had struggled with a quad injury earlier in the tournament, but still battled long into the fifth hour of the match.
Medvedev even fought back from a double break down at 5-2 in the final set, but Nadal managed to see out the win, ending another stellar year for him - reaching three Grand Slam finals in the same year for the fourth time.
There was a warm embrace between the players after the match, acknowledging what a great contest they had been part of.
