Britain's Mo Farah ran a personal best time as he won his sixth consecutive Great North Run.
The 36-year-old crossed the line in 59 minutes seven seconds after taking the lead from Ethiopian Tamirat Tola on the final mile.
London Marathon winner Brigid Kosgei won the women's race in 1:04:28, setting a new half marathon world record.
David Weir and Jade Jones-Hall made it a British double in the wheelchair races with Weir winning his eighth title in the north east.

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson held the previous record for consecutive titles with five in the wheelchair race.
Tola finished second in 59:13 with Dutchman Abdi Nageeye in third, while 27-year-old Callum Hawkins, also of Britain, came fourth.

Last year's champion Mary Keitany was fourth with Charlotte Purdue running the third-fastest half marathon by a British woman with 1:08:10 to finish fifth.
Britain's Simon Lawson was third in the men's wheelchair race behind Canada's Brent Lakatos.
Shelly Woods finished second, the former women's wheelchair champion only returned to competition in May having given birth to her son in 2017, with Mel Nicholls completing a British top three.
