Pace bowler Jofra Archer was presented with his England cap, confirming that he will make his Test debut.
Archer requested that his Sussex team-mate Chris Jordan presented him the cap, as both were born in Barbados and Jordan helped introduce the 24-year-old to the English game.
England's warm-up suggested that all-rounder Sam Curran would miss out on the XI, meaning batsman Joe Denly and left-arm spinner Jack Leach would play.
Australia coach Justin Langer said Josh Hazlewood will play ahead of fellow pace bowler Mitchell Starc, with James Pattinson rested after the first Test.
With all 90 overs from day one lost due to the rain, an additional eight overs can be played to each of the remaining four days.
With more rain forecast for Friday and Saturday, the likelihood of a result from the match is ever decreasing.
There is clear weather predicted for Thursday, when Lord's will be turned red for the Ruth Strauss Foundation, a charity founded by former England batsman Andrew in honour of his late wife, who died of lung cancer last year.
